Pedro David Gallese Quiroz was born on 23 February 1990 in Lima, Peru. He developed through Academia Tito Drago, Deportivo Junior and Universidad San Martín, where his reach, courage and command of the box quickly marked him out as one of the country's most promising goalkeepers.
Gallese's career moved through Universidad San Martín, Atlético Minero, Juan Aurich, Veracruz and Alianza Lima before he became a major figure for Orlando City in Major League Soccer. With Orlando he played more than 150 league matches, became a franchise reference point and earned the nickname "El Pulpo" for his long-armed saves.
In 2026 he joined Deportivo Cali in Colombia, taking on a new challenge after his long MLS stay. At Cali he remains a starting-calibre goalkeeper, still valued for shot-stopping, leadership and the experience of carrying a national team through high-pressure matches.
For Peru he debuted in 2014 and became captain and first-choice goalkeeper through the most successful modern period of the national team. He played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the 2019 Copa América final run, several later Copa América editions and the 2026 qualifying campaign, accumulating well over 100 caps.
Standing 1.89 m and left-footed, Gallese is an imposing goalkeeper whose reflex saves, penalty presence and authority under pressure define him. In Peru he is often discussed alongside Óscar Ibáñez as a modern benchmark, while his elastic style has invited comparisons with Claudio Bravo's leadership and David Ospina's agility.
