Laos Football Club traces its origins to March 2000, when a group of football enthusiasts from Tacloban began gathering for weekly practice sessions, initially playing behind Quezon City Hall before relocating to the Sunken Garden at the University of the Philippines Diliman. The group, which included businessman Dan Palami and associates from his company, adopted the name "Laos FC" — a self-deprecating nod to the Filipino term laos, meaning "has-beens." From these humble recreational beginnings, the club gradually entered competitive football through minor tournaments around Metro Manila.
In 2009, the club's senior side was rebranded as Global Football Club, but a separate team retained the Laos FC identity, maintaining a close sister-club relationship with Global. Under that banner, Laos FC competed in the United Football League (UFL), the Philippines' premier club competition at the time. Their defining achievement came in 2015, when they claimed the UFL Division 2 Championship with an unbeaten record, earning promotion to the top flight — the first time in the club's history they would compete at that level.
When the UFL was wound down, Laos joined the Weekend Football League's Elite Division for the 2017 season, competing alongside second teams of Philippines Football League clubs and established domestic sides. The club later expressed ambitions to join the professionalised Philippines Football League, targeting a debut in its 2021 season. Throughout its existence, Laos FC has represented a grassroots spirit — a club built from weekend kickabouts that grew into a recognised participant in Philippine football's evolving pyramid.
