Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was born on 8 March 2004 in Tamale, Ghana, and emerged as one of the country's brightest teenage attackers through Steadfast FC. His youth performances for Ghana were spectacular, especially at under-20 level, where his left foot, long-range shooting and confidence made him look like a future senior star.
Sporting CP signed him in 2022, bringing him into a club famous for developing wide attackers. First-team minutes in Portugal were limited, but the move exposed him to high technical standards, tactical structure and the challenge of competing in a squad with established senior options.
Leicester City changed his career rhythm. Initially arriving on loan and then becoming a major part of their project, Fatawu impressed in English football with direct dribbling, assists and a left foot that could decide matches from the right side. He became one of Ghana's most exciting young club performers in Europe.
For Ghana he debuted as a teenager and was included in the 2022 World Cup squad, a sign of how quickly his ceiling was recognised. Through AFCON and the 2026 cycle he has been part of the new attacking core around Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana and other post-Ayew generation players.
Left-footed and around 1.77 m, Fatawu is a right-sided winger who loves to cut inside, shoot early and release runners with disguised passes. His style recalls Riyad Mahrez for the left-footed right-wing craft, while his Ghanaian promise also brings memories of the early flair of Sulley Muntari before Muntari moved deeper.
