Eom Ji-sung was born on 9 May 2002 in Gimje, South Korea. He developed at Gwangju FC and became one of the club's most exciting academy products, a winger whose close control and quick changes of direction allowed him to carry attacks even before he was physically mature.
At Gwangju he helped the club rise and compete with a distinctive possession style, improving as both a dribbler and a final-third decision-maker. His performances earned a move to Swansea City in 2024, continuing the path of Korean technical attackers testing themselves in the English Championship.
As of May 2026 Eom remains with Swansea City. He has played regularly across the 2025-26 Championship season, learning to handle tighter contact, faster pressing and the need to produce end product from wide areas.
Eom debuted for South Korea in 2022 and scored in a friendly against Iceland. He has also represented Korea at youth and under-23 levels, and his senior involvement through the 2026 cycle reflects the staff's interest in adding direct wide players around the established stars.
At around 1.76 m, Eom is a right-footed winger who can play on either side but often looks to cut inside and combine. His tight dribbling and creative instincts invite comparison with Lee Chung-yong's younger years, while his Championship development mirrors parts of Bae Jun-ho's path.
