Hirving Rodrigo Lozano Bahena — known everywhere as "Chucky" — was born on 30 July 1995 in Mexico City. He came through Pachuca's celebrated academy, one of the most productive youth development systems in CONCACAF, before making his senior debut and quickly establishing himself as one of Liga MX's brightest attacking talents.
In 2017 he made a headline-grabbing move to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he became a sensation in his debut Eredivisie season, scoring 19 goals and providing 12 assists to help PSV win the league title. His explosive pace on the right flank, directness and clinical finishing made him one of the most exciting wide forwards in European football.
Napoli paid approximately €40 million to sign him in August 2019. His time in Italy was ultimately inconsistent but contained moments of genuine quality, including important contributions in Serie A and UEFA Champions League matches. In summer 2023 he joined San Diego FC ahead of the 2024 MLS season, bringing his considerable profile and experience to the growing American league.
For Mexico he has been the defining attacking player of his generation. He scored the goal that eliminated Germany at the 2018 World Cup group stage — one of the most celebrated moments in Mexican football history — and has been a fixture in El Tri through multiple World Cups, Gold Cups and Copa América appearances. His haul of international goals makes him one of Mexico's all-time top scorers.
Standing 1.69 m, Lozano is a compact, right-footed right winger whose straight-line speed, dribbling under pressure and nerve in front of goal place him in the pantheon of the greatest Mexican attackers of the modern era. His journey from Pachuca's academy to Napoli and back to the Americas charts the ambition and achievement of Mexican football at its best.
