Iker Pozo La Rosa was born on 6 August 2000 in Spain, and his path into professional football was shaped largely by family ties. When his older brother José Ángel was signed by Real Madrid from UD Fuengirola Los Boliches, the Pozo family relocated to Madrid and Iker joined the Real Madrid academy. Five years later, José Ángel made another move — this time to Manchester City — and an 11-year-old Iker followed, enrolling in the City academy where he would spend the bulk of his developmental years.
Pozo made his mark at youth level during the 2017/18 UEFA Youth League, contributing two assists across six appearances as City's U19 side reached the semi-finals. His first real test in senior football came with a season-long loan to Dutch second-tier club FC Eindhoven in the summer of 2020, where he operated in a more advanced central midfield role and scored his first three professional goals — a notable return for a player still finding his feet outside academy football.
A loan to HNK Rijeka in February 2022 was cut short after a serious knee injury sustained in training meant he never made an official appearance for the Croatian club. He returned to Manchester City to recover before joining HNK Šibenik on loan in February 2023, giving him his first competitive minutes on Croatian soil.
Described as a technically composed central midfielder who is more effective in advanced positions than deeper roles, Pozo remains a Manchester City contracted player, with loan moves continuing to be the primary vehicle for his senior development.
