João Félix was born on 10 November 1999 in Viseu, Portugal. He spent his early years in Porto's youth academy before joining Benfica's setup at 15. After cutting his teeth in Benfica's reserve side, he was promoted to the first team for the 2018–19 season, quickly making his mark by becoming the youngest scorer in the Lisbon derby. He finished that debut campaign with 20 goals across all competitions, including 15 in the league, helping Benfica to the Primeira Liga title.
Two moments stand out from that breakthrough season. In April 2019, Félix scored a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League, becoming the youngest player ever to do so in the competition at 19 years and 152 days. That summer, Atlético Madrid signed him for €126 million — the fourth-highest transfer fee in football history and a club record for both sides. He went on to win La Liga with Atlético in 2020–21 and claimed the 2019 Golden Boy award.
A creative, technically gifted attacker comfortable operating as a forward or attacking midfielder, Félix relies on quick movement, intelligent positioning, and an eye for the spectacular rather than physical dominance.
He joined Chelsea permanently in 2024 after earlier loan spells at the club and at Barcelona. For Portugal, Félix made his senior debut in June 2019 and has gone on to earn over 45 caps, winning the UEFA Nations League in both 2018–19 and 2025.
