Sardar Azmoun is an Iranian striker from Gonbad-e Kavus who moved to Russia as a teenager and developed with Rubin Kazan. He later starred for Rostov and Zenit Saint Petersburg, winning Russian Premier League titles and becoming one of Iran's most prolific modern forwards. Bayer Leverkusen signed him in 2022, and he also played for Roma before returning to Asian club football with Shabab Al Ahli. For Iran, Azmoun has been a long-term attacking leader at Asian Cups and World Cups, known for aerial timing, penalty-box movement and combination play around the striker position.
