Timothy Ream was born on 5 October 1987 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. One of the most experienced players in the current USMNT pool, Ream built his career in England after coming through the college system at St. Louis University. He joined New York Red Bulls in 2010 before moving to Bolton Wanderers on loan in 2011, then signing permanently for the Championship side.
His time in England's Championship with Bolton and then Fulham defined his career. He joined Fulham in 2015 and became a stalwart of the defence across more than a decade, helping the club win promotion to the Premier League on multiple occasions — including the 2021-22 Championship title — and establishing himself as one of the most reliable English-based American defenders of his generation. He made over 300 appearances for Fulham across all competitions, becoming a club legend.
In 2024, after more than nine years at Craven Cottage, Ream parted ways with Fulham and joined New England Revolution in MLS, marking a homecoming to the American game and a final chapter in a distinguished club career. His experience and leadership remain highly valued.
For the United States, Ream has been a regular since his debut in 2011 and has amassed well over 70 caps. He was part of the 2022 World Cup squad that reached the round of sixteen, and has continued in the national setup through the 2024 Copa América, bringing veteran leadership to a squad with many younger players.
Standing 1.85 m, Ream is a composed, left-footed centre-back whose reading of the game and calm distribution from the back have been his hallmarks throughout a long European career. He is among the most capped and experienced outfield players in USMNT history, a model professional whose career has spanned multiple generations of American soccer development.
