Calum Chambers was born on 20 January 1995 in Petersfield, Hampshire, and joined Southampton's academy at the age of seven. He worked his way through the ranks and broke into the first team at the start of the 2012–13 season, going on to make 25 appearances in all competitions before earning a move to Arsenal in July 2014 for a fee that could rise to £16 million.
At Arsenal, Chambers quickly made an impression, turning in a composed performance at centre-back in the 2014 FA Community Shield against Manchester City. He went on to win the FA Cup with the club in 2014–15, one of the standout honours of his career. A versatile and dependable defender comfortable at centre-back or right-back, he also demonstrated unexpected adaptability during a loan spell at Fulham in 2018–19, where he was deployed primarily as a central midfielder and earned the club's Player of the Season award.
Chambers spent seven seasons at Arsenal before joining Aston Villa on a free transfer in January 2022. After limited opportunities at Villa Park, he departed by mutual consent in July 2024.
On the international stage, Chambers earned three senior caps for England, making his debut against Norway in September 2014. He was also part of the England under-21 side that won the 2016 Toulon Tournament.
Chambers joined Cardiff City in July 2024 and, following the club's relegation to EFL League One, was named club captain ahead of the 2025–26 season.
