Dean Henderson was born on 12 March 1997 and grew up in England, joining Manchester United's academy at the age of 14 after coming through Carlisle United. He spent several years developing on loan across the Football League, with his most notable early spell coming at Sheffield United, where he helped the club win promotion to the Premier League in 2019 and claimed the Championship Golden Glove with 20 clean sheets that season.
He returned to Manchester United's first team for the 2020–21 season, making 25 starts and competing with David de Gea for the number one shirt. After a loan spell at Nottingham Forest was cut short by injury, Henderson joined Crystal Palace on a permanent deal in August 2023. His time at Selhurst Park has brought him the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2025, and he was appointed club captain in 2026.
A commanding, shot-stopping goalkeeper with strong reflexes, Henderson has represented England at youth level — including as part of the under-20 squad that won the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup — and at senior level, where he was part of the squads that reached the final of UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Euro 2024.
Although the player data on this page lists his current club as Manchester United, Henderson has been a Crystal Palace player since 2023, where he serves as first-choice goalkeeper and club captain.
