Daiki Sugioka was born on 8 September 1998 in Adachi, Tokyo, and came through the FC Tokyo youth ranks before attending Ichiritsu Funabashi High School — one of Japan's most successful football high schools. He signed with Shonan Bellmare in 2017 and was a key part of the side that lifted the J.League Cup in 2018.
Sugioka moved to Kashima Antlers in 2020, then back to Shonan on loan and permanently in 2021–23. After a spell at Machida Zelvia on loan in 2024, he joined Kashiwa Reysol on a permanent transfer in January 2025. Across his J1 career he has played over 200 matches, predominantly at left-back or in the left-sided central defender role.
A modern wing-back with a left-footed delivery and the stamina to carry the ball forward through the channels, Sugioka has been a regular contributor to attacking output despite playing in a back three or back four. He provided 3 assists in 2021–22, scored 2 league goals in 2022 and 2023, and continues to be a productive defender with the ball at his feet at Kashiwa.
He earned his Japan A-team debut and won the EAFF E-1 Football Championship with Japan in 2022. He has also been called up to subsequent Japan camps and remains in contention for the wider 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
