Sekotori Evidence Makgopa was born on 5 June 2000 in GaMampa, Limpopo. He emerged at Baroka FC, where his height, left-footed finishing and calm penalty-box presence made him one of the more unusual South African centre-forward prospects of his generation.
At Baroka he scored enough in the PSL to attract Orlando Pirates, who signed him in 2022. The move brought stronger competition and a slower bedding-in period, but Makgopa gradually became useful as a target forward who could occupy centre-backs and finish chances in cup and league matches.
By 2026 he remains with Orlando Pirates, competing for minutes in a deep attacking group. His role is often specific: give the team a reference point, attack crosses, hold the ball long enough for runners, and convert the lower-volume chances that arrive in tight matches.
For South Africa he debuted early in the Broos era and became a memorable part of the 2023 AFCON run, scoring against Morocco in the round of sixteen. Through the 2026 World Cup cycle he remained an alternative to Lyle Foster when the team needed more height and penalty-area presence.
Standing around 1.88 m, Makgopa is a left-footed striker with a tall frame, decent touch and direct finishing instincts. His style is closer to a lighter Peter Crouch than to a pure sprinter, while his left-footed finishing gives him a distinctive angle among Bafana forwards.
