Guillermo Viscarra Bruckner was born on 7 February 1993 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. He developed through the domestic system and made his name as a goalkeeper with sharp reflexes and confidence in crowded penalty areas, first gaining wider attention during spells with Oriente Petrolero and other Bolivian clubs.
His middle career included moves abroad, including time in Israel and Colombia, before he returned to Bolivia and became especially important at The Strongest. In La Paz he played high-pressure matches in the league and Copa Libertadores, and his consistency made him a natural challenger and successor to Carlos Lampe in the national-team picture.
As of May 2026 he is listed with Alianza Lima in Peru. The move gave him a major-club environment outside Bolivia, with demanding supporters and continental ambitions, while keeping him close to the competitive tempo of South American football.
For Bolivia he has been a senior international through the 2022 and 2026 World Cup qualifying cycles and Copa América tournaments. His national-team role has often alternated with Lampe's, but by the mid-2020s he was one of the clearest first-choice candidates as Bolivia tried to combine experience in goal with a younger defensive line.
Standing around 1.91 m, Viscarra is a right-footed goalkeeper with excellent reflexes, strong one-on-one instincts and a more explosive style than Lampe. His shot-stopping profile invites comparison with Pedro Gallese: not identical in distribution, but similar in the way he can keep an under-pressure national team alive for long stretches.
