Issa Kaboré was born on 12 May 2001 in Burkina Faso and began his professional career in Belgium, signing for KV Mechelen in August 2019. His performances there attracted attention from one of Europe's biggest clubs, and in July 2020 he joined Manchester City, though he initially returned to Mechelen on loan to continue his development.
A right-back or right wing-back who combines strong defensive work with an energetic presence going forward, Kaboré has built his experience through a series of loan spells across Europe. He spent time at Troyes in Ligue 1, then moved to Marseille, where he scored his first Ligue 1 goal in a 2–2 draw against Strasbourg in October 2022. Further loans followed at Luton Town in the Premier League, Benfica in the Primeira Liga, and Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga before he joined EFL Championship side Wrexham on loan in September 2025.
On the international stage, Kaboré made his senior debut for Burkina Faso in June 2019 and scored his first international goal in a 4–0 World Cup qualifying win over Djibouti in September 2021. His most notable individual honour came at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Best Young Player of the tournament after helping Burkina Faso reach the semi-finals with three assists, despite not scoring.
Now at Wrexham, where he registered two assists on debut in a 3–2 win over Norwich City, Kaboré is being given regular first-team football as he continues to develop within the Manchester City setup.
