Jackson Gabriel Porozo Vernaza was born on 4 August 2000 in San Lorenzo, Ecuador. He came through Independiente del Valle and was identified early as a centre-back with rare size and athleticism, representing Ecuador at youth level before his senior club career had fully stabilized.
His European path began with Santos in Brazil and then Boavista in Portugal, where he gained regular first-team minutes. Troyes signed him in 2022, but his following years involved several loans, including Olympiacos, Kasimpasa and Leganés, as he searched for continuity in different leagues and defensive systems.
By 2026 Porozo is connected to Liga MX with Tijuana after those European loan spells. His career has been more unsettled than his talent suggested, but he remains a physically imposing defender with enough experience across Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Spain and Mexico to be useful in a tournament squad.
For Ecuador he debuted in 2021 and was part of the 2022 World Cup squad, though competition for starts has grown sharply. The 2026 cycle places him among a crowded group of centre-backs, where his task is to prove reliability rather than potential.
Standing about 1.92 m, Porozo is a right-footed centre-back with power, reach and aerial strength. His frame invites comparisons with Yerry Mina, but the next stage of his game is about concentration, clean clearances and avoiding the lapses that can undermine physically gifted defenders.
