Kevin Yakob is a Gothenburg-born midfielder from an Assyrian family with roots in Basra. He developed in Swedish football with Assyriska BK, IFK Goteborg, Angered MBIK and BK Hacken, then played senior football for Hacken, Utsiktens BK and IFK Goteborg before moving to AGF in Denmark. Yakob represented Sweden at under-19 level, but FIFA approved his switch to Iraq in 2023. He made his senior Iraq debut against Colombia that year, although the match ended early for him because of a serious knee injury.
