Tom Bischof was born on 28 June 2005 in Aschaffenburg, Germany, and progressed through TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's academy from 2015. He made his senior Hoffenheim debut at 16 on 19 March 2022, becoming the club's youngest-ever player. Across three seasons he made 56 Bundesliga appearances and scored five goals.
In January 2025 Bayern Munich agreed a four-year deal to sign him, and he joined the club mid-2024-25, making his competitive debut at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. He has continued to be involved in the Bayern senior squad through 2025-26.
He has represented Germany across youth international levels and earned his senior debut in June 2025 during the UEFA Nations League Finals. He won the Fritz Walter Medal U19 Gold in 2024.
A 1.81 m left-footed box-to-box midfielder usually deployed centrally, Bischof can also operate as a defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder or wide midfielder, and Vincent Kompany has frequently used him as an emergency left-back. German analysts compare him to Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in profile, and Bayern see him as a long-term central-midfield option.
