Alexandre Lacazette was born on 28 May 1991 in Lyon, France, and came through the academy at his hometown club Olympique Lyonnais. After establishing himself in the reserve setup, he made his Ligue 1 debut in May 2010 and gradually developed into one of the division's most reliable strikers over the following years.
His standout individual season came in 2014–15, when he finished as Ligue 1 top scorer with 27 goals and was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year. That form attracted significant interest from Premier League clubs, and in July 2017 he signed for Arsenal in a deal worth up to £46.5 million — a club record at the time. During his five seasons at Arsenal he won the FA Cup in 2020, reached the UEFA Europa League final in 2019, and was voted the club's Player of the Season by supporters in 2018–19. He scored 71 goals in 206 appearances for the club.
A technically composed centre-forward, Lacazette combines intelligent movement with a reliable finishing ability from in and around the penalty area.
He returned to Lyon on a free transfer in 2022, going on to become the club's second-highest all-time scorer and scoring his 200th goal for the club in his final match before departing in 2025. He has since joined Saudi Pro League club Neom on a two-year deal.
At international level, Lacazette earned 16 senior caps for France, scoring 3 goals, with his debut coming in June 2013. He was a key figure in France's UEFA European Under-19 Championship victory in 2010, scoring the winning goal in the final.
