Ben Chilwell (born 21 December 1996) is an English professional footballer from Milton Keynes who came through the academy system at Leicester City. He made his senior debut for the club in an FA Cup tie against Hull City in October 2015, before a brief loan spell at Huddersfield Town in the Championship helped sharpen his development. Back at Leicester, he claimed the left-back position from Christian Fuchs and went on to make 123 competitive appearances, contributing to the club's FA Cup triumph and European campaigns.
A dynamic, attack-minded left-back with a strong left foot, Chilwell joined Chelsea on a five-year deal in August 2020. His time at Stamford Bridge brought notable success: he started in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City, helping the club lift the trophy, and was named in the competition's Team of the Season. He also won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2021. A serious anterior cruciate ligament injury in November 2021 interrupted his momentum, but he returned to serve as vice-captain under several managers.
Chilwell made his England senior debut in September 2018, coming on as a substitute against Switzerland, and scored his first international goal in a World Cup qualifier against Andorra in October 2021. He has been a regular part of the England squad during that period.
At Chelsea, Chilwell fell out of favour under head coach Enzo Maresca during the 2024–25 season and joined Crystal Palace on loan in February 2025, before signing a permanent two-year deal with French club RC Strasbourg in September 2025.
