Hugo Cuenca was born on 8 January 2005 in Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay, and started in Deportivo Capiatá's youth system. AC Milan noticed his left foot, balance and between-the-lines receiving, bringing him to Italy in 2022.
At Milan he developed through the youth and Milan Futuro structures without yet becoming a Serie A regular. In 2025 he moved to Genoa, continuing his Italian development.
In February 2026 he joined Burgos in Spain's Segunda División on loan from Genoa. By May 2026 he was there, trying to turn youth-level creativity into senior consistency.
For Paraguay he played at U15 and U17 levels before receiving a senior call in 2024. He debuted late in the historic 1-0 qualifying win over Brazil.
Standing 1.83 m, Cuenca is a left-footed attacking midfielder or winger. His smooth touch and inside drifting bring youthful comparisons with Ángel Di María, though he is still developing physically and tactically.
