Leo Skiri Østigård was born on 28 November 1999 in Sunndalsøra, Norway. He came through the youth ranks at Molde FK before moving to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018, where he spent several years as a developing prospect while gaining match experience through a succession of loan spells — at Coventry City, Stoke City and Genoa in Serie A.
In 2022 he joined Napoli, initially on loan, and impressed during his time in Naples before the move became permanent. He was part of the Napoli squad during a period of transition following their historic 2022-23 Serie A title win, competing for a place in a strong defensive unit alongside established centre-backs.
For the Norwegian national team Østigård became a first-choice centre-back, earning praise for his aggressive defending, reading of the game and composed distribution. His partnership with other Norway defenders has been central to the team's defensive solidity through the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Standing 1.86 m, Østigård is an aggressive, committed central defender who excels in one-on-one duels and set-piece situations. His no-nonsense style and willingness to put his body on the line have made him a favourite of Norwegian supporters and a dependable figure for the national team.
