Joaquín Piquerez Moreira was born on 24 August 1998 in Montevideo. He came through Defensor Sporting, River Plate Montevideo and Peñarol, building the stamina and personality of a high-pressure left-back.
Palmeiras signed him in 2021, and he became part of Abel Ferreira's title-winning side. Libertadores, Brasileirão and state titles gave him a bigger South American stage.
By May 2026 he remained one of Brazilian football's reliable left-backs. When fit he gives Palmeiras width, set-piece quality, defensive duels and a left-footed outlet under pressure.
For Uruguay he debuted in 2021 and was part of the 2022 World Cup and 2024 Copa América cycle. He competes in a deep left-back pool with Viña, Olivera and Saracchi.
Around 1.84 m and left-footed, Piquerez is unusually big for the role. His crossing and stability invite comparison with a South American Marcos Acuña.
