Miki Yamane was born on 22 December 1993 in Yokohama and graduated from Tokai University before signing with Shonan Bellmare in 2016. He helped Shonan win the J2 League in 2017 and the J.League Cup in 2018 before joining Kawasaki Frontale on a free transfer in January 2020. With Frontale he won the J1 League in 2020 and 2021, the Super Cup in 2021, the Emperor's Cup in 2020–21 and 2023, and the EAFF E-1 Football Championship with Japan in 2022 — establishing himself as a model Japanese full-back during one of Frontale's most successful periods.
In January 2024 Yamane made the move to LA Galaxy in MLS, joining a Galaxy side that would soon achieve historic success. He was a key contributor in 2024 with 38 MLS matches and 3 assists, helping Galaxy lift the MLS Cup. The 2025 season brought 31 league matches with a goal and 4 assists, plus appearances in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and Leagues Cup as Galaxy continued at the top of MLS.
A modern attacking right-back with stamina, intelligent positioning, and composed crossing range, Yamane started for Japan at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has since competed with Hiroki Sakai and Yukinari Sugawara for the senior right-back role in the Japan setup, with his performance in MLS keeping him firmly in contention for the 2026 World Cup squad.
