Shinnosuke Hatanaka was born on 25 August 1995 in Yokohama. He came through Tokyo Verdy's youth ranks and was loaned to Machida Zelvia in 2016 before moving to Yokohama F. Marinos in August 2018. With F. Marinos he won the J1 League in 2019 and 2022, the Super Cup in 2023, and the EAFF E-1 Football Championship with Japan in 2022.
His F. Marinos career produced consistent J1 output. The 2023 season brought 24 J1 matches with an assist; 2024 produced 15 J1 matches with a goal — a transitional season — before he moved to Cerezo Osaka in January 2025.
His Cerezo career has been outstanding. The 2025 J1 season has produced 33 J1 League matches as Cerezo's senior centre-back, plus 2 J.League Cup appearances.
A 185cm two-footed centre-back with aerial presence, ball-playing security and the leadership of a senior squad member, Hatanaka has been a Japan call-up across multiple senior camps. He is in the wider 2026 FIFA World Cup squad picture as a senior CB option.
