Boulaye Dia was born on 16 November 1996 in Oyonnax, France, to Senegalese parents. His route was unusually late: he worked outside elite academy football and reached the professional game through Jura Sud before Reims recognised his scoring potential.
At Reims he became a Ligue 1 striker, and Villarreal signed him in 2021. In Spain he contributed to a club used to European competition, but his most productive spell came in Italy with Salernitana, where his goals in 2022-23 made him one of Serie A's standout forwards.
Lazio later brought him in, and by the 2026 cycle he was associated with the Roman club as an experienced Serie A attacker. His career has been defined by adaptation: from semi-professional roots to France, Spain and Italy without losing his penalty-area timing.
For Senegal he debuted in 2020 and became important during the 2021 AFCON-winning cycle and the 2022 World Cup. He scored in Qatar against the host nation, helping Senegal recover from an opening defeat and progress from the group.
Standing around 1.80 m, Dia is a right-footed forward who can play as a centre-forward or second striker. His movement, calm finishing and ability to combine with faster wide players make him comparable to a more mobile Papiss Cissé or a less physical but smoother Demba Ba.
