Conrad Egan-Riley was born on 2 January 2003 in Manchester and spent over a decade in Manchester City's academy before breaking into senior football. He made his professional debut for City in the EFL Cup in September 2021 and went on to earn a Champions League appearance later that season, before joining Burnley on a permanent transfer in the summer of 2022.
After loan spells at Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership and Jong PSV in the Dutch Eerste Divisie, Egan-Riley returned to Burnley and firmly established himself in the first team. He was a key figure in a record-breaking Burnley defence during the 2024–25 EFL Championship season, earning the EFL Young Player of the Month award for February 2025, a place in the Championship Team of the Season, and a PFA Team of the Year selection. The club finished second in the Championship that year, securing promotion.
On the international stage, Egan-Riley — who is of Irish and Jamaican descent — represented England at youth level from under-15 through to under-21. He made his England U21 debut in March 2025 and was part of the squad that won the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, coming on as a substitute in extra time during the final victory over Germany.
A versatile, composed defender capable of playing at centre-back, right-back, or defensive midfielder, Egan-Riley joined Ligue 1 side Marseille in June 2025, where the club are looking to him as a reliable defensive option at the top level of French football.
