Chris Rigg was born on 18 June 2007 in the north-east of England and came through Sunderland's academy from a very young age. He was identified early as one of the club's brightest midfield prospects, playing above his age group and earning senior attention while still at school age.
His breakthrough arrived unusually early. Rigg became one of Sunderland's youngest first-team players, scored important cup and league goals as a teenager and developed in a Championship environment that demanded physical courage as well as technical ability. Those seasons gave him a faster education than a normal academy pathway.
By May 2026 he is listed as a Sunderland midfielder in the Premier League, still young enough that development matters more than a fixed label. Sunderland's return to the top flight gives him a demanding but valuable classroom: faster pressing, less time on the ball and the need to choose moments rather than dominate every touch.
For England he has represented youth age groups and is regarded as part of the national pipeline of midfielders. A senior role is not yet something to describe as established, and this section should be updated as his under-19, under-21 or senior path becomes clearer.
Rigg is a left-footed midfielder of medium build who can operate as an eight, a ten or a wide-sided interior depending on the structure. His game is based on timing, bravery in possession and arriving around the box, with early comparisons to a young Jordan Henderson in Sunderland terms, though Rigg appears more naturally creative between the lines. 更新予定.
