David Enmanuel Martínez Morales was born on 7 February 2006 in El Tigre, Venezuela. He developed at Monagas, where he became one of the most exciting young players in the Venezuelan league before turning eighteen. His performances at youth international level, especially for Venezuela's under-17 side, marked him as one of the country's rare attacking prospects with genuine international attention.
Martínez's rise was rapid. The Guardian listed him among the best players in the world born in 2006, and scouts were drawn to his acceleration, left-footed ball-striking and fearlessness in one-on-one situations. Monagas gave him early senior football, and his transfer to Los Angeles FC in 2024 became one of the most significant outgoing moves from the Venezuelan league, reflecting both his talent and the growing market for Venezuelan prospects.
By 2026 he is still with LAFC, where he has had to grow in a demanding attacking group that includes high-level senior forwards. Minutes have required patience, but he has shown flashes in MLS, CONCACAF competition and cup play, including important goals that underline why the club invested in him. The challenge now is turning moments of electricity into a complete senior attacking role.
For Venezuela he reached the senior team unusually young, entering a national setup trying to blend the Rondón generation with a much faster, more technical wave of attackers. His youth-team record and senior call-ups made him a symbol of the country's post-2024 optimism. In the 2026 cycle, he offers a different weapon: a winger or forward who can change tempo rather than simply fit into the team's established structure.
Standing around 1.78 m, Martínez is a left-footed attacker who can play from the right, the left or as a second forward. He accelerates sharply, attacks defenders directly and has the ball-striking confidence to shoot early from difficult angles. His style has been compared in broad terms to Ángel Di María because of the left-footed glide and diagonal dribbling, though Martínez is still a teenager learning the rhythm and responsibility of senior football.
