Born on 23 October 1993 in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, Fábio Henrique Tavares — known as Fabinho — began his senior career at Fluminense before moving through Rio Ave FC and a loan spell at Real Madrid Castilla. He made his Real Madrid first-team debut on 8 May 2013 against Málaga, setting up a goal for Ángel Di María. That summer he joined AS Monaco on loan, a move that became permanent in May 2015.
At Monaco, Fabinho was a key figure in the club's Ligue 1 title win in 2016–17 and their run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals that same season, contributing assists for Radamel Falcao and Kylian Mbappé in the last-16 tie against Manchester City.
Liverpool signed him on 28 May 2018, and he went on to collect an impressive set of honours at Anfield: the UEFA Champions League in 2018–19, the Premier League in 2019–20 — the club's first top-flight title in 30 years — the UEFA Super Cup, two domestic cups, and the FA Community Shield. A composed, defensively disciplined holding midfielder, he reads the game well and breaks up opposition play with precise timing.
Fabinho left Liverpool in July 2023, joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad on a three-year deal for a reported fee of around £40 million. At international level, he earned his Brazil senior debut in June 2015 against Mexico and went on to accumulate 29 caps, including selection for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
