Yaimar Medina is an Ecuadorian midfielder born in Eloy Alfaro Canton on 5 November 2004. He came through Independiente del Valle's academy and made his senior debut in July 2022 against Barcelona S.C. Medina became part of Independiente's first team, scored his first league goal in 2023, and won honours including the Copa Sudamericana, Recopa Sudamericana and Ecuadorian domestic titles. In January 2025 he signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Belgian club Genk. Internationally, he played for Ecuador at under-20 and under-23 level before making his senior debut in September 2024 against Brazil.
