Antony Matheus dos Santos was born on 24 February 2000 in Osasco, São Paulo, Brazil, and grew up in difficult conditions in one of the city's poorer neighbourhoods. He came through the São Paulo FC academy and made his professional debut for the club in November 2018, having caught attention after winning the MVP award at the 2018 J.League U-17 Challenge Cup in Osaka.
In February 2020 he moved to Ajax Amsterdam, where he developed into one of the more eye-catching wingers in the Eredivisie. During his time in the Netherlands he won two Eredivisie titles (2020-21 and 2021-22) and a KNVB Cup (2020-21). In August 2022 Manchester United signed him for a fee reported at around €100 million, a record for a player leaving the Eredivisie and the second-highest fee United had paid at the time. He scored on his first Premier League start against Arsenal in September 2022, and went on to add an EFL Cup winner's medal (2022-23) and an FA Cup winner's medal (2023-24) to his collection.
A right-footed winger known for close control, quick footwork, and direct running at defenders, Antony is currently registered as a Manchester United player. He has represented Brazil at senior level, earning 16 caps and scoring 2 goals since his debut in 2021, and was part of the squad that reached the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
