Héctor Bellerín was born on 19 March 1995 in Badalona, Barcelona, and began his footballing education at FC Barcelona's academy. In the summer of 2011 he moved to Arsenal, where he would go on to spend the core of his professional career, making 239 appearances across all competitions.
After breaking into the first team in 2014, Bellerín quickly established himself as Arsenal's first-choice right-back. He was the sole Arsenal representative in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2015–16 season, a reflection of the consistency he had shown at club level. Over the course of his time with the Gunners he won three FA Cup winners' medals — in 2015, 2017, and 2020 — as well as two FA Community Shields. A serious ACL injury sustained in January 2019 kept him out for nine months, but he returned to play a part in the 2020 FA Cup triumph.
A pacey, attack-minded right-back capable of operating as a wing-back, Bellerín brought energy and directness to the flank throughout his career. He also spent a loan spell at Real Betis in 2021–22, winning the Copa del Rey, before brief stints at Barcelona and Sporting CP. In July 2023 he returned to Betis on a permanent five-year deal.
At international level, Bellerín made his senior debut for Spain in May 2016 and was included in the squad for UEFA Euro 2016, though he did not feature in the tournament itself. He earned a recall to the national team in November 2020 after a four-year absence.
