Daiki Hashioka was born on 17 May 1999 in Saitama and came through Urawa Red Diamonds' youth setup. He stepped into the Urawa first team as a teenager and made his AFC Champions League debut at 18 — a baptism by fire that he handled well, earning a winners' medal as Urawa lifted the AFC Champions League trophy in 2017. He added the 2018 Emperor's Cup to his cabinet before moving to Belgium with Sint-Truiden in early 2021.
After three seasons with Sint-Truiden, where he played over 50 matches in the Jupiler Pro League and grew comfortable as both a right-back and a right-sided centre-back, he moved to Luton Town in January 2024 for around €2 million. He featured in the Premier League as Luton attempted to stay up that season, then in the Championship the year after relegation. In summer 2025 he joined Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, immediately playing in UEFA Champions League group-stage football, before being loaned to KAA Gent in February 2026 to find more regular minutes.
A versatile, athletic right-sided defender with good aerial presence and crossing range from deeper positions, Hashioka has the kind of Premier League experience and continental pedigree that few Japanese fullbacks can match. He has been a Japan international since 2018 and is in contention for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
