Hwang In-beom was born on 20 September 1996 in Daejeon, South Korea. He developed at Daejeon Citizen and became a senior player unusually early, showing press resistance, two-footed passing and the confidence to dictate tempo from central midfield.
His career has taken him through Vancouver Whitecaps, Rubin Kazan, FC Seoul, Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade. At Olympiacos he became a standout in Greece, and at Red Star he added Champions League experience before moving to Feyenoord in 2024.
As of May 2026 Hwang remains with Feyenoord. In Rotterdam he has played as a central midfielder and deeper controller, fitting a club culture that values technical midfielders able to receive under pressure and progress attacks cleanly.
For South Korea he debuted in 2018 and has become one of the national team's most important midfielders. He played at the 2022 World Cup, appeared in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and has been central to the 2026 qualifying cycle because Korea rely on him to connect defence and attack.
At around 1.77 m, Hwang is a two-footed midfielder whose passing range, scanning and ability to escape pressure define his game. He is the closest modern Korean equivalent to Ki Sung-yueng as a central passing hub, but with more mobility and pressing activity.
