Ryan Christie was born on 22 February 1995 in Inverness, Scotland. He came through the Inverness Caledonian Thistle academy and had early career stints at Aberdeen on loan before joining Celtic in 2015. After a series of loan spells at Aberdeen — where he was part of the side that reached the 2017 Scottish Cup final — he returned to Celtic and became a regular starter.
At Celtic under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon, Christie developed into a high-energy attacking midfielder capable of operating as a number ten or a wide forward. He was a key contributor to multiple Scottish Premiership title-winning campaigns, also winning the Scottish Cup and League Cup multiple times. He left Celtic for Bournemouth in August 2021 on a free transfer.
With Bournemouth in the Championship, Christie was a key player in the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2021-22. He has established himself as a regular Premier League presence with the Cherries, a journey that represents a significant step up from the Scottish game.
For Scotland he debuted in 2018 and became a key attacking midfielder under Steve Clarke, contributing goals and assists through the Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 qualifying campaigns. His energy, technical quality and ability to create in tight spaces make him one of Scotland's more dynamic midfield options.
Standing 1.78 m, Christie is a left-footed attacking midfielder whose pressing intensity, technical ability and eye for goal from midfield have made him one of the more complete players in Scotland's squad. He combines physical running with the technical nuance of a genuine number ten.
