Tajon Buchanan was born on 8 February 1999 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. He developed through the youth system in Canada and earned a place at the professional level through CF Montréal in MLS, where his blistering pace and directness on the right wing quickly marked him out as one of the most exciting young wide attackers in North America. In January 2023 he made the move to Club Brugge in Belgium — completing a transfer that had been discussed for some time — and immediately became a key figure in one of European football's more consistent domestic champions.
At Club Brugge he demonstrated that his speed and attacking directness could translate at a high European level, contributing to the club's Belgian Pro League campaigns and Champions League appearances. His ability to beat defenders one-on-one and deliver in the final third attracted attention from clubs across Europe's top five leagues.
For Canada, Buchanan emerged as one of the most electric wide forwards in the national team's history. He was instrumental in the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign and appeared at the tournament in Qatar, where his direct running and pace caused problems for some of the world's best defences. He continued through the 2023 Gold Cup and into the 2026 home World Cup cycle as one of the squad's most exciting attacking outlets alongside Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David.
Injury disrupted his 2024-25 season at Inter Milan — where he had moved — but his pace and directness when fit make him one of Canada's most dangerous wide players. At 1.75 m, he combines speed, close control and end product to give Canadian coaches a genuine match-winner on the flank.
