Daichi Hara was born on 5 May 1999 in Hino, Tokyo. He came through FC Tokyo's youth ranks and won the J.League Cup in 2020–21. After loan and permanent moves between Sint-Truiden in Belgium and Alavés in Spain (2021–23), he returned to Japan with Kyoto Sanga in July 2023.
His Kyoto career has been outstanding. The 2024 season produced 37 J1 League matches with 8 goals; 2025 was even better with 34 J1 League matches, 5 goals and 10 assists — a remarkable creative output for a 191cm centre forward.
In January 2026 Hara moved to FC St. Pauli in Germany's Bundesliga. His Bundesliga half-season has produced 3 league matches and a DFB-Pokal appearance.
For Japan, Hara was a key part of the squad that won the EAFF E-1 Football Championship in 2025, contributing 7 goals and 4 assists across 13 senior friendly appearances and 2 EAFF E-1 matches.
A 191cm two-footed centre forward with elite hold-up play, finishing ability and the technical security to combine in tight spaces, Hara is one of Japan's most-talked-about attacking exports of 2025–26. He is in the wider 2026 FIFA World Cup squad picture as a senior striker option.
