Ángelo Smit Preciado Quiñónez was born on 18 February 1998 in Shushufindi, Ecuador. He developed through América de Quito and then Independiente del Valle, the club that gave him the tactical education and competitive platform to become one of Ecuador's most reliable wide players.
With Independiente he won the 2019 Copa Sudamericana, a landmark title for the club and for Ecuadorian football. His speed, stamina and direct running from the right side earned him a move to Genk in Belgium, where he gained European experience, and later to Sparta Prague, where he played Champions League and Europa League football and became a high-energy right-back.
In January 2026 Preciado joined Atlético Mineiro in Brazil, linking up with other Ecuador internationals and entering a league whose intensity suits his athletic style. By May 2026 he is viewed as a senior club player who can cover right-back, wing-back or a more advanced wide role when Ecuador need extra running power.
For Ecuador he debuted in 2018 and was part of the squads for Copa América, the 2022 World Cup and the 2026 qualifying campaign. His duel with elite wingers in Qatar and in South American qualifying helped turn him from a promising runner into a trusted international starter.
Standing around 1.73 m, Preciado is a right-footed right-back or wing-back. His acceleration, overlapping timing and willingness to attack space invite comparisons with a more direct version of Antonio Valencia, while his defensive concentration has improved with each move abroad.
