Kyogo Furuhashi was born on 20 January 1995 in Nara, Japan. He came through Chuo University and signed his first professional contract with FC Gifu in J2. After joining Vissel Kobe in summer 2018, he won the Emperor's Cup in 2019–20, the J.League Cup in 2021, the Super Cup in 2020 and the Japanese Super Cup again in 2020.
In July 2021 Celtic signed Furuhashi for around €4.6 million. His Celtic career was outstanding. Across multiple Scottish Premiership seasons he won 3 Premierships (2021–22, 2022–23, 2023–24), the Scottish League Cup (2021, 2022–23, 2024), the Scottish Cup in 2022–23 and 2023–24, and finished as the Scottish Premiership's top scorer multiple times. The 2023–24 season produced 22 Premiership matches with 10 goals and 3 assists, plus a Champions League goal.
In January 2025 Stade Rennais signed Furuhashi. After a difficult half-season in Ligue 1, Birmingham City signed him in July 2025. His Championship debut in 2025–26 has been steady: 28 league matches with 1 goal, 2 EFL Cup matches with a goal, and an FA Cup match with a goal.
A 170cm two-footed centre forward with elite acceleration, off-the-ball runs and the technical security to finish in the box, Furuhashi has been a Japan call-up since 2019. He scored 1 goal in 7 friendlies in 2025 and remains a senior striker option in the Japan setup heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
