Yasuto Wakizaka was born on 11 June 1995 in Yokohama. He came through Yokohama F. Marinos' youth ranks and signed his first professional contract with the senior side. After developing into one of the J1 League's most refined creative midfielders, he joined Kawasaki Frontale, where he became a senior figure during one of the club's most-decorated periods.
At Kawasaki Frontale, Wakizaka has been a multi-trophy winner: J1 League titles in 2018, 2020, and 2021; the J.League Cup in 2019; multiple Super Cup wins (2019, 2021, 2024); the Emperor's Cup in 2020–21 and 2023; and the EAFF E-1 Football Championship with Japan in 2022.
His recent Frontale form has been outstanding. The 2023 season produced 29 J1 matches with 9 goals and 6 assists; 2024 brought 34 matches with 6 goals and 5 assists, plus 10 AFC Champions League Elite matches with 2 goals; and 2025 has been a peak with 36 J1 matches, 7 goals and 7 assists.
A 173cm two-footed central/attacking midfielder with elite vision, ball-control and goal-scoring instinct from arriving in the box, Wakizaka is one of the J1 League's most decorated and reliable creators. He is a strong candidate for the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad as a senior J-League-based attacking midfielder option.
