Nicolas Jackson was born in Banjul, Gambia, and developed his early football in Spain, coming through the academy system before establishing himself as a senior player with Villarreal. He spent time on loan at Villarreal's feeder clubs and at CD Mirandés, where his performances in the Spanish second tier drew wider attention and confirmed his potential as a clinical forward.
Jackson joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a reported fee in the region of £32 million, signing as the club sought a focal point for their attack. In his debut Premier League season he registered 17 goals across all competitions, a strong return for a young striker adapting to English football for the first time. His contribution helped Chelsea stabilise their attacking output during a period of significant squad transition.
A direct and mobile centre-forward, Jackson relies on sharp movement behind defensive lines, intelligent link-up play, and a willingness to press from the front rather than on physical dominance alone.
At Chelsea, he is regarded as the first-choice striker and a long-term cornerstone of the club's attacking plans under their current ownership project.
On the international stage, Jackson is a senior international for Gambia, having made his debut for the Scorpions and accumulating caps as one of the country's most prominent footballers currently playing at the top level of European club football.
