Henry Heat Mochizuki was born on 20 September 2001 in Fujimino, Saitama, to a father from Cameroon and a Japanese mother. He grew up through the youth football scene in Japan and joined Machida Zelvia, where he developed into one of the J1 League's most physically commanding centre-backs at 192cm.
His breakthrough came in 2024 with Machida's first season in J1, when he played 26 league matches and contributed 2 assists from defence. The 2025 season was his statement campaign: 32 J1 League appearances with a goal and an assist, plus 13 AFC Champions League Elite matches with 2 goals as Machida competed in Asian club football's top continental competition for the first time.
Mochizuki earned his Japan A-team debut and won the EAFF E-1 Football Championship in 2025 — including a goal during the tournament. His combination of size, speed and athleticism gives Japan an unusual centre-back profile, with the recovery pace to defend high lines and the aerial presence to dominate set pieces.
A modern centre-back built for the demands of the international game, Mochizuki is one of the most exciting young defenders in the Japanese game and a candidate for the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad. His 2025 form put him firmly into Hajime Moriyasu's plans alongside Ko Itakura, Ayumu Seko and Kotaro Takai.
