Zeno Debast was born on 24 October 2003 in Mechelen, Belgium. He came through the Anderlecht academy — one of Belgium's most productive production lines — and made his senior debut at 17 in 2021. By the 2022-23 season he was a regular first-team starter for Anderlecht, showing a maturity in distribution and aerial dominance that belied his age.
Sporting CP signed him in the summer of 2023, recognising him as a high-potential centre-back prospect in the mould of Portugal's own tradition of technically accomplished defenders. At Sporting he continued his development under Ruben Amorim before the latter departed for Manchester United, adapting to the demands of the Primeira Liga and Portuguese football's tactical rigour.
For Belgium, Debast debuted in 2022 at just 19 and has featured regularly in the squad since, including at Euro 2024 under Domenico Tedesco. His age profile — still only 22 at the time of the 2026 World Cup — makes him one of the central pillars of Belgium's post-golden-generation rebuild. He has captained Belgium's youth sides and shown the leadership qualities expected of a future national team leader.
Standing 1.90 m, Debast is an elegant, left-footed centre-back whose primary strengths lie in his passing range, composure under pressure and ability to read the game early. At this stage of his career, Belgium are building a long-term defensive structure around his profile.
