Brahim Abdelkader Díaz was born on 3 August 1999 in Málaga, Spain, to a Spanish mother and a Moroccan-Riffian father. Manchester City signed him from Málaga's academy at sixteen and he made his Premier League debut in 2018 before Real Madrid bought him in 2019 for around €17 million.
A three-season loan at AC Milan (2020–2023) yielded 91 appearances and the 2021–22 Serie A title that ended Milan's eleven-year league drought. He returned to Madrid in summer 2023 on an extended contract through 2027 and has since added the 2023–24 La Liga title and the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League to a haul that already included two Premier League titles and an FA Cup with City. The 2024–25 La Liga campaign saw him deployed as a regular rotation option in the front three; 2025–26 has yielded 5 La Liga assists in just over 1,000 minutes through the spring, and Real Madrid have publicly resisted summer interest from Milan to keep him.
Díaz represented Spain at U17, U19, and U21 levels before officially switching allegiance to Morocco in March 2024. He scored the opening goal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, won man of the match against Comoros, and finished the tournament as top scorer with five goals. A 1.71 m ambidextrous attacking midfielder who can play as a number 10 or off either flank, he is celebrated for his close control, tight-space dribbling, and vision in the final third.
