Richarlison de Andrade was born on 10 May 1997 in Nova Venécia, in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. He came through the youth ranks at America Mineiro before moving to Fluminense in 2016, where two breakout seasons earned him a 2017 move to Watford for around £11 million.
After a strong debut Premier League campaign, Everton signed him in summer 2018 for about £40 million, then a club record. Across four Everton seasons he scored 53 goals in all competitions and was the supporters' fan favourite as he kept the side in the Premier League through a difficult period. In July 2022 Tottenham Hotspur paid roughly £60 million to bring him to north London.
His Spurs spell has been more uneven, with injury setbacks limiting his appearances under Antonio Conte, Ange Postecoglou and Thomas Frank. He has continued to score important goals — including a back-heel header against Brentford and goals in north London derbies — while remaining a regular squad option in a competitive forward line.
For Brazil he debuted in 2018 and went on to win gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He was Brazil's leading scorer at the 2022 World Cup with three goals, including the iconic bicycle kick against Serbia. He has continued through Copa América 2024 and the current 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign as a versatile forward option.
Standing 1.84 m, Richarlison is a right-footed forward who can play as a centre-forward or a left-sided wide attacker. His combination of aerial threat, work rate without the ball and willingness to attempt the spectacular — bicycle kicks, scissor volleys — earned him comparisons with a young Zé Roberto and, in his finishing, with Tim Cahill in his Everton days.
