Lucas Hernandez is a French defender born in Marseille in 1996 and developed in Spain with Atletico Madrid. He broke into Atletico's first team, won the 2017-18 UEFA Europa League and then joined Bayern Munich in 2019 for a club-record fee. With Bayern he was part of the 2019-20 Champions League-winning squad and won multiple Bundesliga titles before signing for Paris Saint-Germain in 2023. A France international since 2018, he started regularly at left-back during France's 2018 World Cup win and later returned from a serious knee injury suffered at the 2022 World Cup.
