Nick Woltemade was born on 14 February 2002 in Hamburg, Germany. He came through the youth academy of Werder Bremen, the northern German club with a long tradition of developing forwards, and made his senior debut for the first team in 2021. He spent time on loan at SpVgg Greuther Fürth to gain regular playing time before returning to Bremen as a senior starter.
At Werder Bremen he established himself as an intelligent centre-forward with a strong aerial game, good technical control and an ability to lead the line effectively in a Bundesliga side that regularly performed above expectations. His performances for Bremen attracted significant attention from bigger Bundesliga clubs, and in summer 2024 he completed a move to VfB Stuttgart.
At Stuttgart he has joined one of the Bundesliga's most ambitious sides, featuring in their 2024-25 UEFA Champions League campaign. His development alongside more experienced forwards in Stuttgart's system and in European competition has continued his emergence as one of Germany's most promising young strikers. He received his first Germany under-21 call-ups and then senior consideration following his strong performances.
For Germany he became part of the senior consideration after the 2024 UEFA European Championship, where he was part of the under-21 squad and received senior attention following the home tournament's conclusion. He profiles as one of Germany's forward options in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup.
Standing 1.94 m, Woltemade is a right-footed centre-forward whose combination of aerial dominance, technical quality and intelligent movement profile him as an old-fashioned target man updated for the modern game. His combination of physical presence and technical sophistication draws comparisons with a younger Luca Waldschmidt or the Bundesliga version of Sebastiano Esposito's more evolved profile.
