Antoine Semenyo was born on 7 January 2000 in England to Ghanaian parents. After being rejected by Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Millwall and Crystal Palace as a teenager, he found his footing through a youth academy programme at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College before signing for Bristol City's academy in 2017. Loan spells at Bath City and Newport County helped shape his development, and he gradually established himself in the Bristol City first team, winning the club's Young Player of the Year award in 2021 and the EFL Championship Player of the Month in January 2022.
In January 2023, Semenyo moved to Bournemouth for £10 million. He made an immediate impact in the Premier League, finishing his first full top-flight season with eight goals. The 2024–25 campaign was his strongest yet, ending with a career-best eleven Premier League goals — a tally that included a memorable strike in Bournemouth's 2–1 win over Manchester City in November 2024, ending City's eleven-month unbeaten run in the league.
A direct and energetic wide midfielder who is comfortable cutting in from either flank, Semenyo signed for Manchester City in January 2026 for £64 million on a five-and-a-half-year contract, and the club will be looking to him to provide creativity and goals across a congested fixture schedule.
Internationally, Semenyo represents Ghana, having made his senior debut in June 2022. He was part of the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and featured at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana were eliminated in the group stage.
