El Hadji Malick Diouf was born on 28 December 2004 in Ziguinchor, Senegal. He developed in Senegal before moving to Europe through Tromsø in Norway, a route that gave him senior football in a demanding climate and accelerated his physical development.
Slavia Prague signed him in 2024, and he quickly became one of the most productive young left-sided defenders in Central Europe. His attacking output, athletic running and maturity in continental competition made him a transfer target for bigger leagues.
West Ham United signed him in 2025, bringing him to the Premier League as a left-back or left wing-back. By the 2026 cycle he was a West Ham player and one of the most exciting young defenders in Senegal's refreshed squad.
For Senegal he entered the senior team during the Pape Thiaw era and quickly looked like a natural fit. His arrival matters because Senegal's left side has long balanced converted defenders, wing-backs and players developed in Europe; Diouf offers a specialist modern profile.
Standing around 1.83 m, Diouf is a left-footed full-back with speed, crossing quality and a strong engine. His attacking thrust invites comparisons with a younger Achraf Hakimi on the opposite flank, while his Senegal role resembles a more natural wing-back version of Ismail Jakobs.
